Why are soft sole baby shoes so important?
Many people, especially older people, believe that babies should wear hard sole baby shoes to support their feet and help them to walk at a younger age. Unfortunately, this information is completely outdated.
Current advice, given by paediatricians and podiatrists, is that if you do put hard sole baby shoes on a baby you may actually hamper the natural development of their feet and cause problems for that child later in life, such as flat feet etc.
Soft sole baby shoes allow babies feet to develop and strengthen naturally and also allow a baby to be able to feel and grip the surface of the environment they are exploring.
It is recommended that babies continue to wear soft sole baby shoes for at least 6 to 12 weeks after they commence walking.
